Date of Event: Oct 26 2017 –
The Tampa Police Department specialty units and crime prevention team will participate in National Campus Safety Day at the University of South Florida. The event is part of National Campus Safety Awareness Month (NCSAM), which is a national campaign to educate students, parents, faculty and staff on overall safety, disaster preparedness and crime prevention.
Since 2005, colleges and universities across the United States have recognized September as National Campus Safety Awareness Month. Due to Hurricane Irma the event was postponed due to public safety .We are happy to share that we have rescheduled the 2nd annual USF National Campus Safety Day event for Thursday, October 26, 2017. This national campaign focuses on promoting a safe and secure environment on campus and in our community. Since the National Campus Safety Awareness Month campaign began more than a decade ago, public safety agencies have commemorated the campaign in many ways. Last year, the University of South Florida Police Department and USF Department of Emergency Management hosted the first annual National Campus Safety Day event on the USF Tampa campus. Our inaugural event was incredibly successful, with several hundred attendees. Due to the success of the event and the opportunity it provided us to interact with and educate the campus community, we will be hosting the event again this year and are looking forward to the continued support of campus and local community partners.
This annual event allows different departments and agency the opportunity to engage with USF faculty, staff, and students to share their programs and resources that promote community and campus safety. Opportunities include:
- Display of response equipment
- Distribution of educational materials
- Live demonstrations
The University of South Florida is committed to providing a safe living, learning, and working environment and your participation in this event will undoubtedly enhance the experience of our USF community.
